Farewell, Mriya!

Farewell, Mriya!

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has escalated recently and shows no sign of stopping. On domestic social media, I see that most Chinese people verbally support Russia, and given the current strong relationship between China and Russia, this attitude is understandable.

But I think, war is a complex thing, you can’t say which side is right and which is wrong, because every side in a war is considering from the perspective of protecting their country’s interests, so there’s no right or wrong. Zelensky’s desire to join the EU may be to improve Ukraine’s declining economy; the desire to join NATO may also be due to the huge sense of crisis brought to the Ukrainian people by the Crimea crisis in 2014. Putin’s annexation of Crimea was also to protect Russia’s national interests, after all, the Black Sea Fleet can’t be without an outlet to the sea; the invasion of Ukraine was also caused by the United States’ step by step provocation… The United States’ betrayal was first, and NATO’s five expansions made Russia feel increasingly insecure…

Although, there is no right or wrong in war, but the outcome of war will definitely not have winners, everyone is a loser, after all, the world is already connected together, no one can stand by and watch…

AN-225 Art

What probably makes me the most emotional about this war or dispute is the damage to the “AN-225” transport plane. It is reported that on February 27, the world’s largest transport plane “AN-225” was damaged by the Russian side at an airport on the outskirts of Kyiv. I have always been reluctant to post this blog, because the news from the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield is so true and false, it is really difficult to distinguish. I have been waiting for an official statement from Antonov Company, stating that the “AN-225” is still intact. Early this morning, Antonov Company posted a tweet: “DREAMS do not burn🇺🇦!” without explaining more. My personal understanding is that the “AN-225” is gone, but dreams will never be burned.

Seeing the farewell words for the “AN-225” by netizens, I made a slight modification:

It takes the whole Soviet Union to build an AN-225, but only one shell to destroy it.

I never thought that the fate of “Mriya” would end in such a tragic outcome, returning to the storm when the red empire disappeared 31 years ago with endless dreams in aviation history.

This farewell is forever!

To some extent, the AN-225 represents the pinnacle of humanity’s challenge to the sky.

From Wan Hu flying to the sky with rockets to the Wright brothers, and up to now, challenging flight is a common dream regardless of skin color or nationality.

Today, we may have to say goodbye to this great dream, but I believe that in the future there will be such masterpieces, cutting through the clouds in the sky with roaring swirls.

At that time, someone will remember these giant wings, forever buried in the black soil of Kyiv.

Wish for world peace! PEACE!
